about

This is a compilation of music made between 2019 and 2022. Some tracks are finished, others aren't. Some tracks were previously released under different monikers, such as DJ Oichika and Ran. Quality may vary.

a few notes:
- 2019 was a year in which i tried to make one noise rock track after the next, and most of these cuts were instrumental. every once in a while i'd try to record vocals for them, and they were usually screamed. the cuts from that time period i chose all have vocals, and they are also quite eventful in comparison to the other noise rock material recorded back then.

- "love" and "viril" were once the same track, but i split them up. if you listen closely, you can hear the final screams in "love" at the very start of "viril". "love" was used in the last track off of 'autoentiltolado', "pensamentos".

- "contortions" was released under the Ran moniker. it is one of the more fully developed songs from 2019, and features a vocal performance that i'd hesitate trying to pull off nowadays (mostly because i haven't tried to do such a thing since then, and i don't want to because i'm not too big on that vocal style). the screams at the end are pretty neat, though. i like them.

- 2020 saw me toying around with FL Studio quite a bit, leading to the release of "idk2distorted" and "repetitive_edited". both were released under the DJ Oichika moniker, which was intended to focus entirely on electronic music, but shifted into something else entirely with time.

- "repetitive_edited" was inspired by coil, autechre's "parhelic triangle" and sophie. to this day, i don't know how to categorize this song. it's my favorite of the two electronic DJ Oichika singles.

- "o planeta invisível", which shows up on 'autoentiltolado', was the start of a shift in direction for the DJ Oichika project. going for a free improvisation, electroacoustic and avant-folk direction, it featured some experiments with layering and glitching. some of those experiments would go over to this compilation's "antidigital", which i believes does a more efficient job than "o planeta invisível" to convey the melancholy and uncertainty that was going through my head at the time (after all, this was 2020).

- "música indie" was made at around the same time of "antidigital" and "o planeta invisível", and it is considerably more playful thanks to the usage of a completely ruined smiths record.

- in early 2021, i was trying to move past my hesitancy to use Ableton. this resulted in "alien atmosphere", a brief, bitcrushed ambient piece that is also a loop. as 2021 moved on, i continued to experiment with Ableton, leading into songs like "indecent" and "rain", off of 'celestial delights'.

- 2021 also saw me diving even deeper into the realm of free improvisation, which led me to the creation of quite a few different pieces that would mix that up with sound collage, electroacoustic, avant-folk and more. some of the earlier experiments would end up in 'autoentiltolado', but others weren't completed and one is just lost. "Song 2" is one of those incomplete pieces.

- it's 2022 as of the time i'm writing this, and this has been a year in which i have barely worked on any new music thanks to multiple changes in my life and my shift in focus to cartooning and animation. however, whenever possible, i tried piecing together one song here and there. it became apparent to me, as of late, that these songs wouldn't piece together into an album, and i wasn't satisfied enough with their final result for most of the time. as a result, they're here in this very compilation.
